Why we use minimal packaging

Individually a small amount of wasted packaging might not seem like a problem, but when there are hundreds or thousands of plastic bags or paper sheets going into landfill every year the problem can clearly be seen. The obvious reason to use minimal packaging is the environmental benefit, but it is not the only one. The more packaging that is used the more it costs to manufacture, and the higher the cost of shipping. Saving 50 - 100g per package can save up to 25% on the cost of shipping, which is extremely important as shipping from New Zealand is expensive and we want to keep the cost as low as possible for everyone around the world.

Our goal was to package our products in a way that still looked great when it arrived, but created as little waste as possible, while still keeping the product protected. The most effective way to protect the package during shipping is still with a courier polybag. While not very environmentally friendly, they are waterproof, resistant to tears, lightweight, and affordable, and we have yet to find anything that works as well as them.

Peak to Plateau Packaging

In addition to the courier polybag, we wrap your entire order in acid free tissue paper that protects it from dirt, marking and acid deterioration. By wrapping your order in one sheet means we can inspect each item before sending it, and use as little paper as possible. We also include a few paper inserts such as your order invoice, product information and stickers.

As part of our goal to reduce our environmental impact we are part of the GoGreen carbon neutral shipping program with DHL. Doing the little things right adds up to make a big difference in the long run, and we want to apply this way of thinking to everything that we do.
